Show mums why dirt is good!
In life, you often learn valuable lessons in unconventional situations, especially when you are a child. You learn to help when you climb up a tree to get the neighbor’s kite that is stuck in the branches. You learn to create when you splash watercolors onto walls. You learn to find your way and be strong when you get lost in a muddy park. The dirt and stains you get in these unconventional moments make for valuable and memorable lessons, like the ones mums like to teach their children about.
Tell us an unconventional and surprising story about how a resourceful mum creatively teaches her child(ren) an important lesson, through dirt and stains.
FORMAT: Video/animations up to 60 seconds, pictures, illustrations, photographs.
When I read the brief, I was very much inspired. I had a lot of different ideas but I needed to chose one. After selecting the concept, I started with the 3D modeling and then animation. In my video, there is a story about a new shirt, which became dirty later on.
After trying on different techniques, I decided to use a cloth for the simulation and for the dirt, dynamic paint that makes it look more interesting. This was the hardest part , and the part which took the most time.
But it was really lot of fun make some tests and work on it. I hope you can see it a little bit in the video.
But I really did not expect the first place! This is awesome!! And it brings me one step closer to start studying 3D animation.
Thank you so much eYeka for this!
I am very proud of this 2nd prize in such an important contest. It is the 2nd time I win a prize for only 6 entries. It is amazing and like this ratio!! Let’s hope it lasts! No, seriously, Shooting took place on my own apartment, with real wet paint and real kid with high-energy… Now, I can say it, I was a little bit scared for my curtains.I am also very happy for actors, who are my friends and a real family in true life (son, mother and father, who plays the child in the future). It was their first experience in front of camera.Of course I thank Eyeka and their team members for their professionalism, and Unilever for their choice.
When I saw the email that said “Congratulation, your entry is a winner.”, I shouted to the other team members and made some noise in the house. We couldn’t believe it that we won!
“Dirt is Good” was the first contest I participated in with the creative team that was formed in a jiffy. They are Didiek Sapta Hadi, Abdul Razzaq, Afdhilki Farid E., Yogi Maulana, Dedi Yandra, Melitta, Olivia Lee, and myself. Coming up with the idea was the hardest part. After reading brief, preparing pens and papers and then we started to gather any idea that may be suitable for the theme. Sometimes weird ideas came up. Unfavourable weather was an obstacle in the production process, but we could get through it happily.
Thank you, eYeka!
I knew eYeka from a friend. I work in visual communication industry (video, graphics, illustration,…) and I like having a variety of projects where I can express my idea freely. I took part in this contest because I immediately had an idea upon seeing the brief.
I did not believe it when I found out I won!
My creation process starts with me brainstorming around the product. After that, the same with the direction of the brief. I usually find 5-10 ideas and I choose the best (not always the case).
I am interested in many art forms (photography, painting, illustration, video, …). A picture or a movie can give me a lot of ideas. Often I get inspiration with things totally different from the final result. I work alone essentially.
I accidently found out about eYeka and didn’t take it seriously at first, but decided to participate to expand my portfolio. But right after my second contest, I realized that eYeka takes much of my time. I’m very happy to win my very first eYeka contest. I hope I will continue to win. This is very motivating.
I came across eYeka when I was just scavenging around the net for some design inspiration. It just happened! And it was quite interesting cause it was a competitive platform to showcase talents around the world on a website!
I participate in contests because it gives a sense of challenge within me, so that I can prove myself that I can create something that is out of the norm yet creative. I took part in this contest because it was challenging in a way, as showing dirt in a positive manner was something not easy to visualize in print form.
I’m definitely thankful for eYeka for giving me this opportunity to appreciate what I’ve done for this competition so far! My inspirations come and go, daily, every minute. It’s almost everywhere around me.
