概要

背景

Humankind has witnessed rapid progress. With access to technology and the internet, the way we create, communicate with friends or meet new people has changed. Knowledge creation and sharing has become a driving economic force and access is now a prerequisite for improving life and realizing a better world.

Unfortunately, not everyone has equal access. Imbalances exist as a result of several factors including: economic, access to education, urban vs. rural locations, disabilities, age, gender with the elderly and women being the most disenfranchised. Language is also a barrier. English has emerged as the leading language in many areas including globalization and technology. Those not fluent in English have fewer opportunities to participate in global knowledge and run the risk of being left behind.

To combat these inequalities, UNESCO is committed to ensuring that people are empowered to create, use, share knowledge and enjoy its freedom to foster a more equitable and fair world.

クリエイティブチャレンジ

We want you to create posters that show why access to knowledge for all is important.

You probably are educated, with university or professional training. You probably understand, speak and write English and even another foreign language. You probably have access to technology including the internet.

Now, imagine that you didn’t have this access and knowledge. What would your life be like? Put yourself in the shoes of a woman or someone with disabilities in a developing country. Or those living in rural area with little education and with no access to information. Should they not have the same access to knowledge as everyone else? Think about why it is important for you and for everyone to have access to knowledge and bring it to life in a creative way.

TIPS: Think about your parents, the elderly, the poor, the illiterate and those without an education. They deserve knowledge too to allow them to participate in a meaningful way in society today. Think about that inequality and create posters that show why it’s important to have access to knowledge for all.
